Addiction - Sin or Disease?
God knocks on the door of peoples' hearts. When a person is deaf to the knock because of affliction such as a drug or alcohol addiction, prescription pill problem, eating disorder or gambling problem, sin becomes an obvious symptom. Lazarus Interventions provides solutions to bring back the relationship with the Lord (God-consciousness) that is being blocked.
Addiction is a disease of which
sin is a symptom
God gives the gift of free will. When someone is addicted, it becomes more than just a spiritual issue. It becomes a disease of the brain in addition to the sickness of the soul. Sin is a most obvious spiritual symptom of chemical dependency and substance abuse. It is common to experience lying or "partial truths" denial that there are problems, job loss, irrational anger, isolation, blaming, justification or excuse for inappropriate actions or responses, and anger when approached for discussion.
A common misconception is that the only thing you can do to help is pray. Yes, prayer is a key ingredient in the healing recovery process, however through faith and allowing God to work, there are actions that can be taken to accelerate the healing process.
